Build Your Own World. Ball Hard. Take Risks: Chances Make Championships

I can’t remember the last time I’ve been this excited for the new year. Actually, I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited for the new year. The new year is less than 6 days away and my mind has been flooded with ideas I want to get off in 2019. Some of them are lofty and other ones are ideal for the growth of Litty Boyz INTL as a whole, but one idea that I really can’t wait to bring to fruition is my brand, Chances Make Champions. People that really know me, know how long I’ve always not only been interested in streetwear clothing, but also the culture. Not only did I think the clothes were really cool, but I was also inspired by the designers, creators and the stories of how those brands came to be. It became more than just a piece of clothing once I discovered the story of how it was made or the inspiration behind the design. And that's what CMC is ultimately about to me. Inspiration.

I’ve been wanting to do this for a while, but I kept getting hung up on the most important part of starting the brand, which is the name. I noticed that majority of the creatives that inspire me were able to create a brand and a lifestyle with only three words. People like Dom Kennedy (Other People’s Money), JoeFreshGoods (Don’t Be Mad fka Dope Boy Magic), Josh Peas (Ain’t Shit Funny), Chase N. Cashe (Can’t Buy Respect) and Kacey Lynch (Bricks And Wood). I wanted to be able to do the same thing. I don’t want you to just wear the clothing. I want you to be consumed by the lifestyle and the meaning of the brand. I want to be able to inspire my peers and also the generation coming after me. From February 2018 to now, I was taking notes and tossing out a bunch of names. I have a tendency to try to force myself to be creative and that always led me to a brick wall of frustration. Spring, summer and fall passed, I still didn’t have a name and I was starting to lose the desire to start a brand. Then, it hit me. The name was right under my nose the whole time.

Curren$y has a song titled ‘Chances’ on this tape he dropped with 808Purp. “Chances Make Champions” is repeated in the chorus and I just thought that phrase sounded so cool so I put it in my Twitter bio. After repeatedly seeing that phrase in my own bio for so long, it finally hit me that I should use it as the name. It perfectly represents where I am in my life right now. I used to be a person that needed assurances before making a decision. In this past year, all of the successes of Litty Boyz INTL and my individual small wins were built off of taking risks. I had to jump off of the deep end of the pool so many times this year and just swim. I want a brand that encapsulates that idea. To win in life, you’re going to have to make sacrifices and find joy in discomfort. At the stage I’m at in my life, I look for that discomfort instead of running away from it because without it, I won’t grow. Chances Make Champions — follow the account social media accounts here: Twitter and Instagram. The first product will drop in the next couple of weeks. The aim is either January or February. Appreciate the support. Love.
